Feeling Minnesota
After the pale lunatic visage
Becomes engorged by the Sun
At midnight rendezvous I recall
Remembering all that has gone amiss
Feeling Minnesota from afar
So engulfed by the darkness
Walking by a misty shore alone
I long for what I cannot have
Only this
Cold, but for glowing embers
That will not depart
Not yet dead, but strangely alive
In the nightmare charm of what cannot be
I hold you close for even this dream shall pass
Eventually into nothingness
Without a memorial or rotting stone
But for these words
And the overgrown recollection
Of a passionate sigh
A sequestered kiss
Making love in yesterdays ecstasy
