Statement Regarding Recent Mass Shootings

It is beyond horrible and disgusting to face the reality of the recent supermarket mass shooting targeting African Americans and the school mass shooting both carried out by young men after purchasing assault style weapons and bragging on the internet. Something is fundamentally wrong with our society and our young adults on how they view the world and their place in it. Yes, gun control is needed. When we have a car we accept necessary tests, registration and inspection. Perhaps making a psychological test necessary before gun purchase is a good first step and a waiting period. Determine if this gun purchase is for a crime or mass shooting and is the person qualified mentally and behaviorially to own a gun. But in the end there will always be gaps and people who wish to do harm and commit suicide by killing others and they will find a way to get guns illegally. So this is a complex subject with no complete solution, but something that must be addressed on many levels in a sophisticated way and politicians have dropped the ball on this before. It is heart breaking and soul crushing to see such brutal violence against innocents. As people we become numb to all the horror around us when we can do more to spread love as individuals and reach out to those in need. Love is and always will be the answer and we need more love and less hate in society and better ways to reach out to disturbed individuals especially young people who have been alienated by the COVID pandemic and other societal or socioeconomic issues. So the rest of the day I will post LOVE SONGS and try to be a more loving person in honor of the African American people who died in the supermarket shooting, the teachers and children who were killed in the latest school rampage and for our future as a society and world going forward. That is how we honor the dead not with more hate because these were beautiful people that were innocent and who had love in their hearts and we unfortunately lost them as living beings, but will remember their individual greatness just by being who they were living as innocents in a flawed, evil world. To those who have lost friends or loved ones so many people stand with you in your grief and feel your pain. These senseless killings need to be prevented and we can no longer accept such precious losses as the wages of being in a so called "free society."
