A GAY STORY (sort of)

When I was in high school a friend took us to what was called an "alternative club" at the time. It was dark inside and Goth music played. We all started to dance and someone rushed over in a panic and said we had to leave. A girl from our group protested and said that we were her friends so the person backed off, but I never forgot that feeling of being unwanted and shunned. I did not know that this was a "gay" club, but I was oblivious. I just judged people as friends and did not delve into their sexuality. In hindsight, it appears some of my friends have been "gay" or bisexual and it was not a part of their life that was shared. And I did not inquire either. I am a bit strange and gravitate towards strange people. Though I have tried to assimilate, it does not work for me so I try to be a less over the top strange mostly. And I believe that has been a lesson repeating in my life. One I learn every day.
