There Is No End
There is no end
Just infinite rebirth
Loves lost and found
Then lost again
In the swirling vortex of space and time
Bland existence resisted in vain
The impulse to run and hide
Remembered and forgot
Somewhere deep in the forest
Your immortal spirit remains
Making love as days pass into night
Echoes of dogs and the shouts of men getting closer
To cut you down and enslave you once more
Another soul cast into the abyss
For the crime of attaining brief freedom
If just for a moment's bliss
To experience love
Unmoved by the yoke of cruel overlords
For that crime the penalty
Death
A new beginning
To be reborn naked
Without chains.
