Orphaned Love
This song I sing cannot be heard
I whisper sweet notes in the darkness and cold
As the sound fades away into nothingness
With a tear and a sigh
It is my gift to you
Which you will never receive
Except in lonely words of black and white
Gutted on a dusty page
Solitary mementos of the past
Emanating from my black shriveled heart
It is all I have left to give
And the world drones on
Forever would never be enough
My silence will have to do
As an epitaph for brief glimpses of ecstasy
For what could never be
Will not come to pass
This orphaned love
Drowning in the ocean alone
Without a savior
Or one to mourn
Going under for the last time
In quiet last gasps
Of passion and pain.
