Graveyard Coffeehouse

Fifty Last Goodbyes

There is a certain peace
In letting go
Knowing finally
All has come
To an end
Burning bridges
Watching them smolder
In the darkness
Remembering moments
We kissed to candlelight
And roses
Sipping Merlot
Before we made passionate love
All the beautiful lies
Die screaming
Haunting in the black
Like the ghost of the moon
Where I once
Saw your face
Took you with force
In a dark forest
Under its eerie glow
So much happiness
Pain
Ecstasy
Orgasmic moans
Sighs
That live on
Beyond soiled
Rumpled sheets
Where we drowned
In depravity
For torrid rendezvous
How many fantasies
Illusions
Have been made real
As I looked in your eyes
Held your voluptuous body
In my arms
Kissed your full lips
Slow
Wet
Deep
Each goodbye
Shatters my soul
Every hello
Sets me up
For the fall
Our desire
Hunger
Tongues tracing
Salty sweat on goose flesh
Shouts for satisfaction
But by morning
It all fades away
As we walk
Hand in hand
Watching you leave
Saying this is our last moment
With a wicked smile
Counting the days
Weeks
Months
Until we reconcile
Believing
All hope is lost
Wishing this time
Things will be different
Forever
A word burning
In my mind
That eludes my grasp
When I hold you close
Counting
As you walk away
Believing
That this time
We will stay together
Despite
Fifty last goodbyes
And memories
That will not die
Returning to life
At night
Stalking like a fiend
Unleashed
Under a full moon.
