How Many Heart Beats

How do you measure the time
When two lovers come together
Within the ecstasy of a sequestered room?
Is it just a meaningless rise and fall?
An impure act of lust?
A carnival of Sin?
You can always tell if your lover is sincere
If he is counting
How many heart beats before daylight arrives
And final goodbye
Thrusting you deep and shallow
Keeping pace in a passionate race with the Sun
Making love until every last second is consumed
Until the climax is done
While you fall together from the heights of desire
As you are forced to go in a blind rush
Your body shivering orgasmic
To one last explosive euphoric burst of pleasure
Ending with a prolonged sensuous kiss
As he holds you in his arms
You will know by this if your love is true
Heartbeats never lie
Though lovers do.
