As I have said, I love Halloween. When I was around 12 or so, our group went trick or treating and started getting flack from people who said we were too old for Halloween which effectively killed Halloween due to the age shaming and humiliation.
It was not until I was 21 that I realized Halloween was not dead, it was actually undead as local bars and clubs had Halloween parties and dances with prizes for the best costumes which were often quite elaborate.
