Graveyard Coffeehouse

Rain

He waited for her
In the rain
As shifting winds blew
Amid the sound
Of thunder
As each passing
Moment
Arrived
Then faded
Into the darkness
He heard her name
Echo
In the corridors
Of his mind
He stood
In the open
Exposed
Inundated
By the cold
Droplets
Thinking
Of the warmth
Of her sweet
Face
How his body
Became alive
As he kissed
The fullness
Of her lips
She had been gone
So long
He almost forgot
The way she smiled
Ran her fingers
Through
Her long
Brown radiant hair
He held her
In his arms
Pressed his flesh
To hers
As the rain
Poured down
Like memories
Revived
Then tossed aside
To make way
For new adventures
He whispered
In her ear
I love you
You know
I always will
She replied
Our love
Will last forever
Like the stars
In the sky
As they walked
Away
Hand in hand
Inside
Where they
Slowly removed
The cold wet
Garments
Threw them
On the floor
Bodies on fire
As they kissed
Made love
The rest of the Night
Serenaded
By lightning strikes
Claps of thunder
Amidst the symphony
Of falling rain
On the ceiling
The shadows
Of their
Pulsating bodies
Illuminated by
A flickering candle
They looked
Into each
Others eyes
Smiling
Thinking
At the same time
The mirror
Did not lie
Long ago
They would
Never
Be alone
Again
For this
Beautiful
Love
Would
Last
Forever
Even
As
The
Rain
Falls.
